Welcome to Carothers Funeral Home

Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia, North Carolina was established in 1928 by Ervin S. Carothers. After several years, Mr. Carothers brought in a partner, Mr. C.T. Settlemeyer, and the business became known as Carothers and Settlemeyer Funeral Home. As the business began to grow, a brother, J.C. Carothers began his career in funeral service. In the late 1930s, Woodie Carothers, Sr. completed Mortuary Science School and joined them also. After his service in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Luther F. Carothers joined the staff and later became manager of the Mt Holly Funeral Home.

As the business continued to grow, newer and more modern facilities were built. In 1960 Carothers Funeral Home - Gastonia was built followed by Carothers Funeral Home - Belmont in 1963. Seven years later, Carothers Funeral Home, Mt Holly was completed. In 1973, Dallas Funeral Home became part of the organization along with York Funeral Home in York, South Carolina.

In addition to the family members on staff, there were many key employees that played a prominent role in the success of Carothers Funeral Home. Many of the employees have remained with the firm thirty to forty years, continuing to serve the families in our communities.

Today, we are proud to be part of the Dignity Memorial® national network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. We are committed to exceeding expectations and delivering a standard of service that is 100 percent guaranteed.
